TTSLexx is a free-to-download utility app created by netttsengine. Designed to work with Google’s Speech Services, this text-to-speech (TTS) tool lets you build and use a custom dictionary specific to your language needs. It supports many languages, including Chinese, English, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Spanish, Russian, and Urdu.
The app serves as a quasi-TTS tool, which converts text based on your dictionary every time you use Google's text-to-speech service. Feature-rich
Unlike @Voice Aloud Reader (TTS) and Narrator's Voice - TTS, which are stand-alone speech synthesizer apps, TTSLexx operates alongside Speech Services. The program offers a platform where you can create a dictionary based on your language preferences and apply it to Google’s screen reader app, providing a customized speech output. It translates text according to your custom dictionary before it is processed to be read aloud.
The built-in editor is the heart of the app. Here, you can easily create a TTS.lexx dictionary in the app’s internal storage, which you can access through the notification, share function, or netttsengine’s very own FastSet. The editor adapts changes from the dictionary instantly and lets you see the difference with a simple swipe. Plus, it supports data importation and exportation for backup purposes.
Apart from the dictionary editing function, the tool enables you to select and save your favorite reading voice as well. Clearing periods at the end of sentences or abbreviations is a breeze thanks to the app’s intuitive removal tool. The app, however, misses the point of a good and effective user interface. With all the useful features it offers, some users find the bare interface quite disappointing.
